Relative Orientation Revisited

چکیده

Relative Orientation is the recovery of the position and orientation of one imaging system relative to another from correspondences between five or more ray pairs. It is one of four core problems in photogrammetry and is of central importance in binocular stereo, as well as in long range motion vision. While five ray correspondences are sufficient to yield a finite number of solutions, more than five correspondences are used in practice to ensure an accurate solution using least squares methods. Most iterative schemes for minimizing the sum of squares of weighted errors require a good guess as a starting value. The author has previously published amethod that finds the best solution without requiring an initial guess. In this paper an even simpler method is presented that utilizes the representation of rotations by unit quaternions.

Comparison of short-range-order in liquid- and rotator-phase states of a simple molecular liquid: A reverse Monte Carlo and molecular dynamics analysis of neutron diffraction data

The short-range order SRO correlations in liquidand rotator-phase states of carbon tetrachloride are revisited here. The correlation of some angular magnitudes is used to evaluate the positional and orientational correlations in the liquid as well as in the rotator phase. The results show significant similitudes in the relative position of the molecules surrounding a central one but striking di...

Orientation distance graphs revisited

The orientation distance graph Do(G) of a graph G is defined as the graph whose vertex set is the pair-wise non-isomorphic orientations of G, and two orientations are adjacent iff the reversal of one edge in one orientation produces the other. Orientation distance graphs was introduced by Chartrand et al. in 2001. We provide new results about orientation distance graphs and simpler proofs to ex...

Angle-dependent Ni2+ X-ray magnetic linear dichroism: interfacial coupling revisited.

Using x-ray magnetic linear dichroism (XMLD) for magnetometry requires detailed knowledge of its dependence on the relative orientation of polarization, magnetic moments, and crystallographic axes. We show that Ni2+ L(2,3) XMLD in cubic lattices has to be described as a linear combination of two fundamental spectra--not one as previously assumed. The spectra are calculated using atomic multiple...

Magnetization in uniaxial spherical nanoparticles: consequence on the interparticle interaction

We investigate the interaction between spherical magnetic nanoparticles which present either a single domain or a vortex structure. First the magnetic structure of a uniaxial soft sphere is revisited, and then the interaction energy is calculated from a micromagnetic simulation. In the vortex regime the orientation of the vortex relative to the easy axis depends on both the particle size and th...
